Sustainability

Our Position

We're a small brand. We don't claim to be perfect — the clothing industry has real environmental problems and we contribute to them. What we can do is make better decisions than the fashion industry average, be transparent about what we're doing, and improve every year.

This page is an honest account of where we are, not a marketing document.

Materials

We use a limited palette of materials chosen for durability and environmental profile:

• Heavyweight organic cotton (200–320 gsm): GOTS-certified from Turkey and Portugal. Heavier weight means it holds shape and lasts longer.
• Recycled nylon: used in outerwear shells. Sourced from post-industrial waste.
• Compact merino: 100% mulesing-free, Responsible Wool Standard certified. Used in lighter knit pieces.
• TENCEL™ Lyocell: closed-loop production process, used in some summer pieces.

We avoid polyester in our main collection. Blended fibres are used occasionally in technical pieces only — we label them clearly.

Production

All manufacturing happens in Spain and Portugal. We work with four suppliers — all of whom we have visited in person. Our contracts include fair wage requirements, safe working conditions, and annual audits.

We produce in small batches to reduce overstock. When we do have excess, we discount it honestly rather than destroying it.

Packaging

Currently:

• Mailer bags: paper-based, 100% recyclable
• Inner wrapping: recycled tissue paper
• Hang tags: recycled card, hemp cord
• No plastic tape, no void fill

What we're working on: removing the tissue paper liner (replacing with nothing, or a single recycled wrap), and switching to certified compostable alternatives for any remaining plastic components by Q4 2026.

Shipping

Shipping is our largest emissions category. We currently offset all shipments via a verified carbon offset programme (Verra-certified forestry projects in Spain). This is a temporary measure — we're investigating lower-emission carrier partnerships and consolidation options for 2027.

We encourage customers to consolidate orders and choose standard shipping over express where possible. Express air shipping has significantly higher emissions.

What We're Still Figuring Out

• Garment end-of-life — we don't have a take-back programme yet. We're researching options for 2027.
• Scope 3 emissions accounting — we measure what we ship, not the full supply chain yet.
• Dye processes — we use conventional dyeing at our Portuguese supplier; natural dye alternatives are expensive and not yet scalable for us.

We'd rather list these honestly than pretend they don't exist.
